Chocolate Truffle Torte
Our most requested dessert, rich, moist, and very European.
1 cup water or leftover coffee
1/2 cup cocoa powder
8 Tablespoons butter
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup sour cream
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla
Preheat oven to 350. Grease and flour 2 10" pans. Bake 15 minutes or
until springs to touch. cool in pans, then invert until completely cool.
With a long serrated knife, cut each into 2 disks, placing top disk on
plates. Drizzle each disk with a liqueur (apricot, coffee, or hazelnut).
Using favorite chocolate frosting, spread carefully between layers, then
top and sides. This cake freezes great.
